7:00 A.M. 4 miles in 8:07 pace  Nice and easy run in the misty morning

4:30 P.M. 8.5 miles in 7:45 pace

Met my Running Republic team in Boulder for intervals.  Only 8 of us were there. Coach Darren was still out of town after racing Boston yesterday so his wife, Colleen lead the workout.   It was pretty fun to be lead by a world class runner.  She is super nice and helpful too.  She is gearing up for a marathon in Europe at the end of May and a half-marathon in New York this Saturday.

20 minute warm-up, stretching, strides

4X45 seconds fast turnover/75 sec. easy (I didn't push my lap button on these)

2X(90 sec/2 min/90 sec) steady/hard with 60 sec easy (my pace was  6:22, 5:52, 6:12, 5:56, 6:01, 6:00)   Felt better on my groin to keep the pace at 6:00 or slower.

2 minutes between sets

5 minutes steady (6:21 pace)

20 minute cool down

The workout was pretty easy and I controlled my pace so my groin wouldn't be aggravated.  Felt great to be out running with the team again!

Glad you're able to get back into some speedwork.

Nice workout, Nan! I would be too starstruck to even attempt a workout with CD watching. You are still so strong despite all of the hiccups these past couple months.

Nice first speedwork. I saw Darren took 3rd in his age group in Boston, something like 2:32? with Darren and Colleen coaching you you will be in Bolder Boulder shape in no time. I will be watching your blog to get the secret running republic workouts for free.

Did I tell you I met and talked to Alan Culpepper at the 2006 Boulder striders motivational pre-race meeting? I even sat next to him for the group photo ( I am not a member, I was just there with my brother as his guest). No one can find the photo though or I would post it as my blog picture, bummer. Alan is a really nice guy.

I'm glad to see you're back to running with the Boulder Running Republic. And hanging with famous people too.

I would be starstruck too! Wow! That is so awesome! Glad you are feeling better!

Wow that is a cool workout being lead by world class runners!

Thanks everyone! Its so good to be back.

And it IS pretty inspiring to rub shoulders with Colleen, she's very down to earth and humble.

Scott-You can follow the Running Republic workouts all you want, but the real secret to the workouts is RUNNING WITH the team. :) That is cool about meeting Alan Culpepper. I've been in his running store a couple times and I used to see him running all the time when I lived in Superior.
