Snow.  Went to the gym and did 30 minutes pretty hard on the elliptical and ran 4 miles.  Then I did some core work, lifted weights and took a shower.  2 hours later....finally done.

Hip is feeling quite good now!  This is the first day all week I've actually felt motivated to work out.  I figured since I'm mentally dragging and my hip still isn't recovered fully anyway, it wouldn't hurt to just take an easy week.  I'm hoping to get my fire back soon and simultaneously feel 100% in my hip so I can get out there and get into great shape again.  Right now I'm still feeling like an injured, out of shape athlete.

glad the hip is getting better. good idea to take it easy. My motivation is low right now too, so I am glad to see I am not the only one.

I am beginning to think January and february are good months to not do any running at all unless an important spring marathon is on the agenda. I think I am going to get some x-country skate skis and just do that next winter for two months and bag running completely.

Glad you had a good workout today. Hip feeling good + newfound motivation sounds like a great combination-hopefully you experience it soon. You are such a tremendous athlete that in reality it will not take long at all for you to get back into shape. I doubt you are very much out of shape anyway! The low-key week sounds nice--I am planning on a few of those after my April marathon!

Remember that time you ran a 2:44:10 at TOU? That was awesome!

:) Thanks for that Burt.

I know from my past that fast running can come back pretty quickly. I've done it three times after not running at all through pregnancy and I've had my seasons of very little running followed by lots of fast running. In fact, last winter around this time I was running about 10-15 mpw and didn't even start bumping up my mileage until June when I joined the blog. So a fast fall marathon is still in my realm of possibilities.

I think the relative rest you're having right now will do you good and you will come back stronger than ever when your body and your m ind are ready.
